23. Design Language - Cool (Cold)

At The Rubix Collective our new home designers in the Northern Beaches use cool and warm tones to compliment each other.

Characterised by: Greys, cool whites, and blue/green based neutrals are used in wide open plan spaces. Sometimes man-made materiality is used to enhance the effect, such as concrete or steel. When done well in a residential setting it can be done to create a lot of drama without feeling clinical. Does not necessarily translate to a cold temperature. Often the higher thermal mass of common cool materials will allow for greater thermal comfort.

Complimentary Accent: Warm
