What is an Eco House?

Where Passivhaus is primarily for occupant comfort, and healthy house is for occupant welfare the eco house is for environmental benefit. This is not to say that passivhaus and healthy house do not have substantial environmental benefits, however because their primary focus is otherwise, there are gaps that could be improved on by the more wholistic eco house model. While most of the principles listed under eco house are compatible with Passivhaus and healthy house, there are some that are not. The Rubix Collective team will consult further if both upgrades are desired. Also, unlike the healthy house and passivhaus options, where the full concept must be done in its entirety, clients are able to pick and choose individual eco-house options and pass on others in their new home additions to their Newcastle property.
