61. Construction - Smart House - Plug-and-Play IoT Devices

The Internet-of-Things (IoT) refers to the ability to assign an IP address to an item’s electronics to allow it to communicate over the internet back to a controller. In the early days of automation, electrical items with a circuit board were the most common products to gain IoT status, but now previously “inanimate” objects such as blinds, wardrobes, doors and windows are becoming web connected and available in off the shelf, plug-and-play formats. Other available options are smart lightbulbs, smart doorbell cams and smart kitchen appliances, which are increasing in popularity despite their awkward operation.
