68. Counter Selection - Porcelain

Made from powdered clay and colour pigments under high-pressure, porcelain is the most durable of all countertop materials but also the costliest. However, given its strength it is brittle. Care should be taken to not drop heavy items on the surface as chip repair is very difficult. Reinforcement of cabinetry is often needed due to Porcelain’s weight. As contemporary residential designers in Newcastle we find the most common brand is Dekton.
